FELLOWSHIP
CATEGORY
Eligibility Criteria:
• IAGES MEMBERSHIP IS MUST.
•Those who are not members may apply for membership online. see the website www.iages.in for more details.
• Post graduate degree in surgery is mandatory.
• Number of years of experience in laparoscopic surgery should be a minimum of 2 years (includes experience in laparoscopy as resident). A resident or junior consultant should obtain certificate of experience from the HOD of the hospital/Institution as a supportive document. Attach soft copies of MBBS, MS or DNB certificate and MCI registration certificate during membership registration.)
• Members of collaborating associations who have signed MOU with IAGES are also eligible. They are expected to get their application endorsed by the respective collaborating association prior to joining the course.
(A) Non-Examination category
• Suitable for those candidates working as faculty inteaching institution and all surgeons with
more than 10 year experience in doing laparoscopy.
• Already an IAGES member or should become IAGES member.
• Number of laparoscopy done in the last 10 years >100 would be eligible to receive the FIAGES fellowship on satisfactory completion of the FIAGES course and the informal interview.
(B) Examination Category
• Suitable for those with a minimum of 2 years experience in laparoscopic surgery (includes
experience in laparoscopy as postgraduate / resident) after post- graduation.
• Fellow should have experience certificate from HOD, Employer or self if running own hospital.
• Log book: It is mandatory that candidates should submit a log book containing a minimum of 25 basic Laparoscopic cases performed or assisted by them duly countersigned by Senior Consultant/HOD or self if working in his/her own set up at the time of interview.
NON-FELLOWSHIP
CATEGORY
• Online FIAGES is also open to Non-members and all surgical postgraduates and interested surgeons across the globe under the Non-Fellowship category wherein they are eligible to take this course and receive the certificate of completion of FIAGES course.
• They could register and participate in the annual national conference as postgraduates or non-member category.

FELLOWSHIP CERTIFICATE
- He / She should be a life member of IAGES or a member of collaborating associations.
- Registration to the Annual National Conference and Convocation (IAGES 2024@ Kolkata on 23 to 26 October 2024) is mandatory.
- Fellowship certificate will only be given in person to the successful candidates in the convocation ceremony to be held on WCES-IAGES 2024 in Agra.

ASSESSMENT OF FIAGES FELLOWSHIP CANDIDATES
• The candidate is expected to know all important facts in laparoscopic surgery.
• Written Paper Timings: 60 minutes
• The written paper should have 100 MCQ questions (single best response type).
• Maximum marks: 100
• Practical Examination
It is in two parts
1. The skill assessment on endo trainer on the bases of performing simple to advanced exercises. Duration: 10 minutes for each candidate. A maximum of 50 marks are allotted for the endo trainer assessment. Each candidate is examined by one examiner only
2. Interview/assessment for approximately 10 minutes on each candidate. The candidates are divided into batches and are interviewed by two or more senior faculty members of IAGES depending upon the number of candidates. A maximum of 50 marks are allotted for the viva/interview.
- The total marks for practical examinations are 100 (entertainer assessment 50 marks and interview 50 marks). A minimum of 50 marks are required to pass separately in practical examination combining the entertainer assessment and interview.
- Outcome of the written and practical assessment will be prepared by the organizing team with the help of the Fellowship board and to be signed and to be sent to the President with a copy to the Hon Secretary Office and FIAGES board and results will be published on the IAGES website.
- Successful candidates would be expected to attend the subsequent annual conference and convocation to receive the fellowship certificate.
The Fellowship certificate would only be posted to the candidate if he/she fails to attend two consecutive annual congress/convocation.
